Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Exams (TCOLE)

College of the Mainland serves as a bridge to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) by providing the specialized testing environment necessary for official licensure. As an authorized state testing site, COM offers a secure, professional space for cadets and current officers to complete the mandated examinations for peace officers, county jailers, and telecommunicators.

Fast Facts: What to Expect

  • Before taking the Exam: You must be officially endorsed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to sit for your specific examination. Out-of-state Officers: Must submit an "Out-of-State Eligibility Packet" to TCOLE to receive an official endorsement letter.
  • PID Number: Ensure you have your Personal Identification Number (PID) assigned by TCOLE to start your exam.
  • Limits: Most endorsements allow for three attempts to pass the exam. If you fail all three, you may be required to retake the entire basic licensing course.

After verification of your TCOLE endorsement, schedule an exam time and pay the applicable fee.
