Dual Credit Testing & Requirements
Dual Credit allows high school students to earn college and high school credit simultaneously. Through the Dual Credit program, students take actual college-level courses taught by college-approved instructors, whether at their high school, on the COM campus or online, earning credits upon completion that apply toward an Associate Degree or transfer to most public four-year universities in Texas.
This approach allows students to satisfy high school graduation requirements while simultaneously building a permanent college transcript at a significantly discounted tuition rate.

To enroll in these courses at College of the Mainland, students must demonstrate college readiness through the TSI Assessment or qualify for a specific exemption.
TSI Requirements for Dual Credit
To enroll in college-level Dual Credit courses, students must meet the following minimum passing standards on the TSI Assessment. You are considered "TSI Complete" in Reading and Writing if you meet one of the following paths:
English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR)

Mathematics
You are considered "TSI Complete" in Math if you meet one of the following benchmarks:

Non-Exempt Testing Information
These benchmark scores must be met otherwise, you will need to complete the TSI. All new COM Dual Credit and/or Collegiate High School students may receive a voucher to offset the costs of their first assessment. If necessary, students may retest; testing fees apply for each retest. Please visit TSI Assessment for more information about fees and how to sign up.
