While the transfer process can feel overwhelming, starting early and staying informed help ensure that every credit hour you earn at COM counts toward your future bachelor's degree.

Essential Transfer Guidelines
- Student Responsibility: You are ultimately responsible for researching, choosing, and verifying course equivalencies for your specific destination university.
- Target Advising: You can easily schedule a dedicated "Transfer Advising" appointment through your Student Navigate account to meet with the Graduation and Transfer Coordinator.
- College and University Transfer Information: Visit the desired school's website and search for transfer equivalencies or Core Curriculum or the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) website to view equivalencies between TCCNS and other institutions and community colleges.
Transfer Student Checklist
- Review Your Options: Research potential transfer programs and identify the colleges or universities that align with your goals.
- Make a Plan: Book a "Transfer Advising" session through Navigate to meet with the Graduation and Transfer Coordinator for course mapping and planning.
- Submit Your Application: Complete and submit your transfer application through the university's designated portal (such as ApplyTexas or the Common App) and pay any required fees or complete the fee waiver process.
- Request Transcript: Arrange for COM to provide your official transcripts to your prospective institution.
- Update Your Financial Aid: Ensure your TASFA or FAFSA application is updated to include your transfer school to process your financial aid.
- Clear Medical Holds: Submit any required health documentation—including mandatory bacterial meningitis vaccination records—directly to your new campus.
- Finalize any Additional Details: Consult the institution's official website to verify orientation dates, advising mandates, and available transfer grants or scholarships.

The word “transfer” means to move from one place to another. As a student, you can take courses at one college and bring those courses with you to another college.
- Request your official transcript from your current college’s Admissions Office to your current college to the transfer college/university.
- Provide any required immunizations records to the transfer college/university.
Any courses that are a part of a transfer degree have the potential of being accepted by the receiving institution. Most colleges/universities will require a “C” grade or higher for course credits to be accepted.
The receiving university retains the ultimate, final authority on exactly how your COM credits evaluate and apply toward their specific degree tracks.
