How Academic Advising Helps You

Our advising team provides personalized, one-on-one guidance to ensure your college experience is efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with your long-term goals. We assist you with:

  • Choosing a Pathway or Major: Aligning your personal strengths, talents, and career aspirations with the right academic program or certificate.
  • Semester Degree Planning: Mapping out a clear, semester-by-semester course schedule so you know exactly which classes to take and when.
  • Transfer Planning: Ensuring your COM credits line up perfectly with the degree requirements of your target four-year university.
  • Navigating Academic Milestones: Reviewing your progress at critical benchmarks (15, 30, and 45 credit hours) to keep you on the path to an on-time graduation.

When Should You See an Advisor

To stay on track with your academic journey, we recommend connecting with an Academic Advisor at these crucial milestones:

  • Every Semester (Before Registration Opens): Meet with your advisor every semester before priority registration begins to secure your preferred class times and ensure you are taking the right courses.
  • Milestone Check: When you hit 15, 30, and 45 credit hours to verify degree auditing.
Academic Transition: If you decide to change your major or pathway.
  • Graduation Prep: The semester before you plan to graduate to ensure all boxes are checked.

Take the Next Step: Connect with an Advisor

We offer flexible options to fit your schedule, including scheduled face-to-face appointments, virtual meetings, and drop-in hours. Log into your student portal to pick a dedicated day and time to meet with your assigned pathway advisor.
