Dual credit students are public, private, and homeschool students who want to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously.

Dual Credit Options

COM currently offers the following dual credit learning options:

Dual Credit

A program that allows students to earn high school and college credits at the same time. Classes can be taken at:

  • Their high school campus
  • Online
  • COM Campus

Collegiate High School (CHS)

A specialized high school at COM, in which high school students work to earn their high school diploma and an associate degree simultaneously. This is a selective program that requires students to apply for admission.

Early College High School (ECHS)

A program offered by Texas City ISD (TCISD) in partnership with College of the Mainland (COM), where students, grades 9-12, have the opportunity to earn their associate degree before graduating high school.

Getting Started at COM

Starting college while you're in high school is a big step, but you don't have to do it alone. Follow the enrollment steps below, and your Dual Credit Enrollment Coach will be with you throughout the process to answer questions, provide guidance, and help you successfully begin your college journey.

Meet with your high school counselor to discuss the Dual Credit Program and to determine if Dual Credit is the appropriate pathway for you.

Apply for admission online at the ApplyTexas website.

Submit qualifying test scores (TSI, SAT, ACT). For more information about qualifying test scores or scheduling a test, visit the Testing website.

  • Testing requirements do not apply to CTE Dual Credit courses.
  • Upload or email qualifying scores.

Submit proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination or exemption waiver if applicable.

Students eligible to enroll in dual credit courses will be registered for approved courses as indicated on their submitted Dual Credit Enrollment Form.

Establish an official COM email account.

Official communication from the College to the student is sent through the COM Email account.

Students who do not qualify for Free or Reduced benefits through their school must submit payment to COM for Dual Credit courses prior to the payment deadline.

Payment options include:

  • Payment Installment Plan
  • Online (via COM Selfserve)
  • On-Campus by visiting the Cashier's Office in the Doyle Family Administration Building during operation hours
  • Over the phone by calling the Cashier's Office at 409-933-8377 to pay in full with a debit card or credit card
