TRIO Upward Bound

TRIO Upward Bound (UB) is a premier college-preparatory program at College of the Mainland designed to empower high school students to graduate and excel in higher education. We provide the academic support, cultural exposure, and personal guidance you need to reach your goals at no cost to you or your family.
We provide a comprehensive support system to ensure you are "college-ready." Our services include:
- Academic Tutoring: Expert help in math, science, English, and more.
- College Admissions Assistance: Step-by-step help with applications and essays.
- Financial Aid & Scholarships: Guidance on FAFSA, TASFA, and finding money for college.
- Test Prep: Training for the SAT, ACT, and TSIA2 exams.
- Cultural Experiences: Field trips to universities, museums, and theater performances.
- Summer Program: A six-week "college simulation" featuring academic classes and a celebratory trip.

To join the TRIO Upward Bound family, students must meet the following criteria:
- School Enrollment: You must attend Hitchcock High School, La Marque High School, or Texas City High School.
- Grade Level: Students should be in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade at the time of application.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Program Criteria: You must meet at least one of the following:
- First-Generation Status: Neither of your parents has earned a four-year bachelor’s degree.
- Income Status: Your family meets the federal taxable income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Education.
