College of the Mainland offers a robust array of financial assistance options, including institutional scholarships, federal or state grants, employment programs, and student loans to ensure an affordable path toward your educational goals. COM Scholarships
By completing just one unified scholarship application each year, full-time and part-time students are automatically evaluated for nearly 100 internal scholarship funds. Only one institutional foundation scholarship will be awarded to any individual student per academic year. Summer funding is also available and requires no additional application.
General institutional awards designed to help cover tuition, mandatory fees, and textbook costs.
Private funding streams provided primarily by non-governmental civic sources. Award terms, eligibility, and cash refund parameters for living expenses are set explicitly by the donor and do not require repayment.
Skill-based awards offered through individual COM academic sectors based on performance, merit, and specialized talent:
- Business Division: Awarded to business majors based on academic merit, hours carried, grades, and a brief essay. Covers tuition, fees, and books for one year. Apply directly to the Business Team.
- Fine Arts Department: Performance-based awards for instrumental, theater, and vocal students. Apply directly to the Fine Arts Department.
- Texas Nurses Association (District #29): Nursing-specific merit awards. Apply directly to the COM Nursing Department.
Consumer Alert: Beware of Scholarship Scams
Always safeguard your financial information during external scholarship searches. Be highly suspicious of any organization or offer making the following claims:
- The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back.
- You cannot obtain this specific program information anywhere else.
- A credit card or bank account number is required up front to hold the funds.
- The company will do all the application work on your behalf.
- The scholarship application requires an upfront processing fee.
- You have been selected as a finalist or recipient for a contest you never entered.
