Admissions Requirements
- Application: Complete your profile at ApplyTexas.org.
- Fee: Submit the $50.00 non-refundable international application fee.
- Transcripts: Provide official high school and college transcripts. Foreign credentials must be translated into English and evaluated course-by-course by an approved evaluation company.
- English Language Proficiency: * TOEFL: 79 (iBT) or 550 (Paper-based).
- IELTS: 6.0.
- Exemptions: Graduation from a U.S. high school or completion of college-level English at an accredited U.S. institution.
- Bacterial Meningitis: Proof of vaccination is required for all students 21 years of age and younger.
- TSI Assessment: Testing is required for all students unless proof of exemption is provided.
To receive your I-20, you must demonstrate the ability to cover all costs for at least one year of study.
- Total Financial Proof: A minimum of $22,000 USD is required.
- Required Documents:
- A signed Affidavit of Support.
- Official Bank Statements (no older than six months) on official bank letterhead.
- International students are eligible to apply for COM Foundation Scholarships.
- Applications are typically accepted between February and April for the following academic year.

- Enrollment: Maintain a full course load of at least 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring).
- Online Classes: Only 3 credit hours (one class) may count toward the 12-hour requirement.
- Attendance: Excessive absences may lead to withdrawal and status termination.
- Academic Progress: You must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- I-20 Management: Extensions must be requested at least 15 days before the expiration date.
- Passport: Must be valid at least six months into the future.
- Student Information Changes: Notify the international student counselor within 10 days of changing your name, address, or phone number.
- Medical insurance coverage is mandatory for all F-1 students.
- Proof of coverage must be submitted at the time of registration. COM provides a list of specialized international student insurance providers upon request.
- On-Campus: Permitted up to 20 hours per week while school is in session.
- Off-Campus: Strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from USCIS.
- Your I-20 must be signed by the international student counselor before traveling outside the U.S.
- Required for Re-entry: Signed I-20, valid Passport/Visa, I-94 card, current transcripts, and a counselor support letter.
- Counseling & Advising: Academic and personal support.
- Tutoring: Free assistance in the Student Support Services lab.
- Writing Center: Help with essays and research papers.
- Student Clubs: Opportunities to engage with the campus community.
