Tuition Refunds & Financial Aid Disbursements

Happy student man reads refund letter sitting in campus.

Whether you are waiting for an overpayment refund from a dropped class or tracking your financial aid grant and loan disbursements, College of the Mainland handles all student refunds through a secure, centralized system. Use this page to understand how you get paid, review refund schedules, and check state-regulated drop timelines.

Select Your Refund Preference

College of the Mainland delivers all student refunds using BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution powered by BMTX, Inc. To prevent delays in receiving your funds, every student must select a refund delivery preference as soon as they enroll.

  1. Visit the BankMobile Disbursements Refund Choices Portal.
  2. Enter your unique personal code or look up your student profile.
  3. Select one of the following secure delivery methods:
    • Electronic Deposit to Your Existing Account: Funds are securely transferred directly to your personal checking or savings account (typically takes 1–2 business days from the release date).
    • Electronic Deposit to a BankMobile Vibe Account: A digital checking account where funds are accessible the same day COM releases them.

Late Financial Aid Applications: If your financial aid application is processed after the start of the semester, your specific disbursement date will depend on the exact date your award is finalized and online acceptance is completed.

Financial Aid Disbursement

Financial aid is applied directly to your student ledger to pay off tuition and fees first. If your total financial aid package exceeds your total balance, the remaining overpayment is refunded to you.

Dropping Classes & Tuition Refunds

If you drop a course or officially withdraw from the college entirely, refunds are calculated strictly based on the number of semester days, as directed by Texas state law.

Standard Refund Scale (16-Week Semesters)

Refund Amount Drop Day
100% Refund Dropped before the 1st official class day of the semester.
70% Refund Dropped within the first 15 class days.
25% Refund Dropped within the first 20 class days.
0% Refund Dropped any time after the 20th class day.

Short Sessions & Mini-Mesters (3 to 8-Week Classes)

Refund Amount Drop Day
100% Refund Dropped before the 1st official class day.
70% Refund Dropped within the first 2 to 5 class days (varies by exact session length).
25% Refund Dropped immediately following the 70% window cutoff.
0% Refund No refunds are issued after the first week of an accelerated session.

Please Note: Before dropping any class, consult the Financial Aid office. Dropping courses can drop your enrollment status below the minimum threshold required for certain loans, or trigger a "Return to Title IV" calculation, meaning you might have to pay money back immediately.
